7th grade students may take ART 7 as a focus class. Students will continue to learn about art history and styles and expand their art vocabulary for analysis and critique. Students will work to improve skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Students build knowledge on concepts of composition design, 1 point perspective drawing, painting, and clay and plaster sculpture. They will be introduced to basic color theory and verbal and written critique. Students will learn how different principles of design are used in both personal and famous art works.
1 Point Perspective Art Galleries
Students used rulers and drafting triangles to design a room with 5 picture frames, a wood floor, tile ceiling, bench, and lighting. They discussed concepts of proportion, unity, and variety in a work of art. Students created detailed drawings for the pictures in their galleries and chose a color scheme for the walls, frames, floor, and ceiling to emphasize the artworks.
